What is acupressure?
Acupressure is a treatment based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, a system of healing
that dates back thousands of years.
Acupressure is a complementary medicine technique derived from acupuncture. In acupressure physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points by the hand, elbow, or with various devices.

How does acupressure work?
The effects of acupressure are complex. Each meridian corresponds to one organ, or group of organs, that governs particular bodily functions. There acupressure points are places where the energy pathway is close to the surface of the skin.
What does an acupressionist do?
The acupressionist may want to take your pulse at several points along the wrist and look at the shape, color, coating of your tongue and look at the color and texture of your skin, your posture, and other physical characteristics that offer clues to your health.
Instruments.
There are several different instruments for applying nonspecific pressure by rubbing or rolling against the body. The acuball is a small ball made of rubber with protuberances that is heat able. It is used to apply pressure and relieve muscle and joint pain.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of acupressure treatments you need depends on the complexity of your illness, whether it’s a chronic or recent condition and your general health.
What is acupressure good for?
Acupressure is particularly effective for pain relief and for post-surgery and chemotherapy-associated nausea and vomiting.
